Women accountants in the UK are increasingly receiving more workplace equality, a new survey has revealed.
A snapshot survey of female accountants in the UK found that firms are increasingly recognising the need to retain talent, leading to women in the accountancy profession receiving the same career opportunities as their male colleagues.
The survey of 121 female accountants, conducted on behalf of specialist financial recruiter – Elements, 68 per cent rated their general promotional prospects as equal to a male colleague, while almost two-thirds believed their overall reward package was likely to be the same as male accountants performing the same duties.
A vast majority of the female respondents felt there is a significant increase in the number of women entering the profession and that work-life balance was now an issue for male accountants as well as women .
However, senior female finance professionals felt they had to work harder to achieve their current position and 70 per cent of respondents identified family commitments as an obstacle to achieving higher career positions.
