The UK accountancy industry is suffering from a severe lack of sufficient skills, a new global study has found.
A report from Robert Half International revealed that more than half of human resources or finance managers struggle to attract skilled accountancy workers into the industry.
The study also found that 43 per cent of respondents had concerns that their own top staff are likely to be given a better offer elsewhere.
The findings follow a recent announcement from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland claiming that all of top 50 accountancy firms in the country are experiencing some form of difficulty with recruitment .
Max Messmer, chairman and chief executive of Robert Half International, explained: "To build effective teams, employers will need to offer attractive compensation packages, as well as programs that support professional development and work-life balance."
In Britain, high-level financial management roles were found to take up to nine weeks to fill.
