Degress In Accounting Prove To Be The Most Lucrative

Tue, 11 Sep 2007

Students who graduate with a degree in accounting stand to earn considerbale more money in the workplace than any other graduate, a new study has revealed.

According to research by the Institute of Education, a male graduate with an accounting degree will earn a massive 42.15 per cent more than someone with an degree in Arts, with female accounting graduates not far behind – earning 37.12 per cent more than their Arts counterparts.

In fact, accounting graduates are ahead of any other academic discipline including graduates with degrees in law, medicine and the various engineering disciplines.

Dr Anna Vignoles, who led the research for the IOE, said: "Some graduates in highly valued subjects, such as accountancy, will continue to profit from the amount they spent on their degrees ."

The latest findings are expected to add further credence to the argument that more valuable degrees should attract higher tuition fees .
