A quarter of accountants are reportedly unhappy at work, new research has revealed.
Badenoch &Clark recruitment firm has found that happiness levels in the accountancy profession are the fourth lowest out of all industries, with only human resources, IT and travel and transport sectors being worse off.
The new figures come despite 50 per cent of accountants having more confidence in their job prospects than a year ago, according to the firm .
Twenty per cent of bankers, lawyers and public sectors workers admitted to being fed up with their job, while just ten per cent of caterers and retailers said they were not content with their daily job .
Nick Eaves, Badenoch &Clarks director of accounting and finance recruitment, said:
"Employers need to consider not just their recruitment strategies to attract talent with itchy feet."
"They also need to be imaginative in how they work to improve happiness at work and to retain valued employees ."
The research follows a 2007 survey conducted by Robert Half Finance and Accounting in conjunction with Pass magazine, which revealed that three out of five part qualified accountants are unhappy with their annual salaries.
