The Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been joined by the heads of the three largest accounting firms on his visit to China .
Deloitte chief executive John Connolly, Ernst and Young chairman Mark Otty and KPMG senior partner John Griffith-Jones were invited by Brown to join his delegation in a bid to promote their business expertise to China's politicians and finance sectors.
Accounting giant PricewaterhouseCoopers will not be represented as chairman Kieran Poynter was forced to decline his invite because of a prior engagement .
Although it is not uncommon for large manufacturers to be invited on such delegations, the inclusion of the UK's leading accountants alongside Brown suggest the Prime Minister is eager to promote the financial expertise that Britain can offer China, as well as other emerging markets .
With the accounting firms always on the look out for ways to increase their own profits, the supplying of services to emerging markets has been identified as a key revenue driver.
