US Accountants Beat Big Four In The Fortune 100 List

US accounting firm Plante and Morgan has outranked the ‘big four’ in a list of ‘the best 100 companies to work for’, complied by Fortune magazine .

The Michigan-based Plante and Morgan came in 44th place, ahead of Ernst and Young at 57, KPMG at 71, PricewaterhouseCoopers at 90 and Deloitte and Touche USA at 95.

The USA’s 11th biggest accounting firm made the list for the 10th year running .

Companies in the survey were ranked accordingly due to ratings’ in a number of areas, including management's credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie.

Commenting on the achievement, the firm’s managing director Bill Hermann, said: "Over the years we've focused on our people and it's allowed us to better service our clients ."

"There's a 'we care' attitude that we believe differentiates us in the workplace, as well as in delivering service to our clients ."

Hermann highlighted the firm’s parenting tightrope committee, which focuses on the needs of the parents on the staff, as well as the staff's parents.

"Frank Moran had a belief that the whole person comes to work," Hermann added. "There's a balance between personal life and professional life, and you need to maintain that."
