Students training to become chartered accountants in the South West will soon be able to learn from the comfort of their own home or office with the launch of a new distance learning programme.
From September, trainee accountants will be able to study for their professional qualification without the hassle of long distance travel by using the internet to link up to live interactive tutoring sessions.
Learning materials from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and BPP will be available, with face-to-face revision courses held in Exeter and Cornwall .
The online programme will take a minimum of three years and four months to complete and is designed to appeal to graduates and members of staff who already hold the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification .
The course was developed by training firm BPP in conjunction with the South Western Society of Chartered Accountants .
"We are delighted to be part of this pioneering scheme," commented Simon Emergy, BPP's director of UK regions.
"It will bring new life to chartered accountancy training, especially in remote parts of the country where travelling to learning centres has been costly and difficult in the past."
