Accountancy firm Ernst and Young is set to create a new organisation in Ireland in a bid to expand its business across the country.

From July 1, the all-Ireland practise will begin operations following a unanimous vote by the firm's Irish partners for a change to the current establishment.

Under the new formation the firm’s six Ireland-based offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Belfast, will now all work together under one banner.

Ernst and Young claims that all of its Irish clients will now be offered a range of services in line with its other operations across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa .

Current managing partner for Ernst &Young in Ireland, Paul Smith, will become head of the new business and described the move as a "major step" for the firm .

"We will be operating as a seamless, consistent business, offering our clients a more globally integrated approach that reflects the way they themselves do business," he added.
