External Accountants Will Benefit Business, Companies Told

Useful advice and tips are just some of the benefits available to companies which use an external accountant , an industry expert has claimed.

Business Link, a self-help website for small and medium businesses, has advised entrepreneurs that their company would benefit considerably through the hiring of an accountant who specialises in a particular industry.

The firm’s business adviser and local adviser manager, Claire Savidge, stated that external accountants not only help companies reduce their tax bills, but also help make them aware of the availability of particular schemes .

"Even if business owners don't use an external accountant they should perhaps use an external consultant who can look over their financial details to make sure they are heading in the right direction," she stressed.

Ms Savidge added that company bosses should ensure their accounts are audited at least once every six months, while a quarterly review may be necessary for those who are less financially minded.

The advice follows The Professional Oversight's Board recent announcement that many small company directors are uncertain on how to receive financial help and what options are available regarding financial reporting .
