Camden, Hammersmith and Fulham and Merton are the UKs most popular areas for small accountancy practices, according to new research from one of Britains biggest banks .
The results of a new business survey by Barclays Bank have come as a surprise to those expecting to see locations such as the City or Canary Wharf listed as the most popular locations for "high street accountants ".
The Barclays survey found Camden to have the highest concentration of small accounting firms, followed by other London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston and Surbiton.
Other popular areas identified in the study, which only included firms and businesses with a turnover of under £1 million, were Harrow, Exeter, Bury St Edmunds, Ealing and Southend-On-Sea.
John Davis, marketing director of Barclays Local Business, praised the contribution all small businesses have made to the national economy .
"These businesses are responsible for in excess of 50 per cent of the UKs GDP and without them the country would just grind to a halt," he commented.
