Sage has revealed a £14m rise in pre- tax profits to £122.6m for the year to 31 March, highlighting the continued demand for accounting software by SMEs.

Paul Harrison, group finance director for Sage commented: "We have a 5.5m SME customer base and even though we are facing a touch economic market, SMEs still need support ."

The firm’s interim results revealed UK revenues grew 12 per cent from £107.5m to £120.2m.

But despite a growth in profits, the figures showed that Sage’s Healthcare Division, which makes up 11 per cent of the overall business, suffered a slump over the past 12 months, from £249m to £248.5m.
