Companies in the UK should make the most of their staff during the economic turmoil by including training for accountancy graduates, it has been suggested.
According to Alison Church, World of learning senior conference and marketing manager, many companies are currently stuck between choosing whether to retain staff or cut costs and could benefit from allowing accountancy graduates extra time off to attend more training courses .
"The UK's economy is based on the skills of the people that work within it, so without doubt the more educated and better trained staff are, the more likely they are to make a valuable contribution to their companies," she explained.
Britains employment levels are expected to drop by one per cent throughout 2009 as the current financial crisis turns into a recession, although the affects of such a reduction will not be evenly spread across the UK.
The accountancy industry has already experienced a tough year but Church added that companies can make the most of 2009 through graduate recruitment .
