PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been named graduate employer of the year in the latest Graduate Recruitment Awards by The Times.
The award, received for the fifth year running, adds to the Big 4 accounting firms title of graduate employer of choice in the accounting sector.
According to the newspaper, more than 150,000 people are employed by PwC worldwide and the company is planning to hire a further 1,000 graduates from the UK in 2009.
In addition, around 2,000 graduates from China will be taken on board next year. China markets leader Frank Lyn said the company intended to hire and train people at a comparable rate over the next five to ten years.
The Times added that PwC usually receives ten to 15 applications for each graduate vacancy, although this figure is expected to rise this year due to fewer opportunities elsewhere.
In order to apply for a role at the Big 4 firm, graduates must have at least a 2.1 degree and more than 280 UCAS points. Entry-level job opportunities include roles in assurance, strategy consulting, business recovery and tax and economic consulting .
PricewaterhouseCoopers recently revealed global revenues of more that £17.6 billion for 2007.
