A trainee accountant has been awarded for achieving the highest score in her professional accountancy exams .
Laura Brophy, a trainee with Baker Tilly, received the Knox prize from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for her accomplishment, which saw her beat nearly 1,000 other students to the top spot.
The young accountant has also been commended with an award from the Institute of Financial Services (IFS), which was presented to her by Andrew Bailey, the chief cashier at the Bank of England.
"To win two prizes like this is fantastic and to receive the award from Andrew Bailey was a real honour," she commented.
"I'm grateful to everyone, particularly the ICAEW who nominated me."
Earlier this week, The Times ranked financial services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as the number one graduate employer in the UK for the fifth year in a row.
The newspaper’s annual Graduate Recruitment awards also saw the firm voted graduate employer of choice in the accounting sector.
