Accounting Jobs Remain Resilient To Economy Downturn

The financial sector is still in need of professionals to fill various accounting roles, despite the current economy downturn, a leading recruitment agency has revealed.

According to Hays Senior Finance, a number of accounting jobs are still available in resilient areas such as the fast movable goods sector, which is proving strong due to high demand for food and drinks products .

The internal audit sector was also cited by the agency as a strong option for newly-qualified accountants, adding that in times of financial uncertainty such professionals become increasingly vital to companies.

"Internal Audit is a promising option for newly qualified accountants looking to get their foot in the door across the banking, telecoms, insurance, media, retail and manufacturing sectors," explained Roland Seddon, director of Hays Senior Finance in London .

Meanwhile, the company also suggested that the public, local government and education sectors are becoming more stable, with the NHS in particular providing many jobs .
