The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has announced the appointment of Helen Brand as its new chief executive.
The 43-year-old, who joined the ACCA in 1996, will move from her current position as the ACCAs managing director of strategy and development to the role of chief executive.
Ms Brand will replace current head Allen Blewitt, who is returning to Australia following five years as chief executive of the global accountancy body.
Brendan Murtagh, chairman of ACCA's renumeration committee, said the organisation was "delighted" at the appointment of Ms Brand which concluded a four month global recruitment search.
"Her global understanding of the sector and experience of working with bodies, such as the International Federation of Accountants will be of great benefit in the next phase of our strategic programme to be the leading global professional accountancy body in reputation, influence and size," he added.
