Thu, 16 Apr 2009

A new TV channel dedicated to accountancy is to launch in the UK later this year, the Daily Telegraph has revealed.

According to the newspaper, UK business Ten Alps, which is partly owned by Sir Bob Gedolf, is launching the station to help those working in the accounting sector improve their skills through a focus on personal development .

It is hoped that the new channel will go live later in 2009 and join a range of existing stations aimed at the law and engineering professions.

Speaking to the newspaper, Ten Alps chief executive Alex Connock explained that the firm is looking for backing in Asia to complement venture capital secured in Britain.

"It's our big project for this year and our contribution to trading the UK out of recession by selling our knowledge economy abroad," he said. "It seems like the right time to be looking at training, especially in emerging markets ."

Mr Connock added that there was also the possibility the channel could be launched outside of the UK.
