Access Accounting Reduces Workforce To Maintain Growth

An Essex-based accountancy firm has confirmed axing 31 staff members in a bid to reduce costs and sustain growth.

Access Accounting, which describes itself as the leading provider of business and accounting solutions to the middle market, announced that 18 employees had been made redundant, and 13 had taken voluntary redundancy .

Managing director John Beech said such measures were needed to help the company move forward during the economic recession.

He said: "We are a strong company that is actively positioning ourselves within the mid market to take on the Goliaths of the industry by continually innovating and moving forwards."

"As with many businesses coping with the current economic climate, we have had to reduce costs to continue growing, while maintaining performance to meet our 10-year plan."

"We are a cash-positive profitable company and a well stewarded business that will be around for the long term, continuing to support and add value to our customers’ businesses."

Other firms in the sector that have been forced to make cut backs include software developer Sage .

The leading business software supplier has been carrying out a redundancy programme that is believed to have slashed its workforce by 200.
