PwC To Cut UK HR Workforce By 15 Per Cent

Thu, 14 May 2009

Professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has announced plans to cut 15 per cent of all positions in its UK Human Resources department over the next three years.

PwC said the majority of the 60 roles would either be redeployed to other parts of the business or would be as a result of natural attrition.

The reduction in the HR workforce is part of a three-year restructuring project at the Big Four accountancy firm .

Previously, PwC's three lines of business - accountancy, tax and advisory - each had their own HR departments.

But the group said this created unnecessary duplication and revealed that under the new structure there will be just one large HR department for its UK operations.

It added that new HR graduates would train as accountants before joining the HR department in order for them to gain a better understanding of the business .

PwC recently confirmed that it had taken on 125 new graduate trainees in the UK as part of its annual recruitment process.

The company revealed just under half of the new graduates will be given roles within its financial services operations in London .
