PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has announced it is to recruit around 1,000 accountancy graduates next year, keeping in line with this years recruitment programme.
The Big 4 accounting firm, which recently hired 20 new members of staff at its Newcastle office, said it plans to further expand its internship scheme and hire new trainees into its legal and management consultancy departments.
Recruitment will also be carried out in the firms assurance, advisory and tax departments.
Sonja Stockton, head of recruitment at PwC, said companies were battling it out to ensure they had the best candidates in each role during the ongoing economic recession.
She added that successful candidates will be those who demonstrate talent, academic achievement and confidence, and the ability to contribute and learn.
In September, PwC was crowned the number one graduate employer for the sixth year in a row.
The firm won The Times High Fliers Top Graduate Employer award, which was voted for by students and graduates across the UK.
