Accountants Accused Of Devising Tax Evasion Scheme

Thu, 05 Nov 2009

Two Vantis accountants were in court last week after being accused of setting up a £219 million tax evasion scheme .

Roy Faichney and David Perrin appeared in Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Friday following the allegations by HM Revenue and Customs .

HMRC claims the senior executives were responsible for setting up a sophisticated scheme which involved hundreds of clients, including senior City bankers, top barristers and company directors, as well as an Oscar winning film executive and a celebrity psychiatrist .

The court heard how Perrion and Faichney allegedly devised and promoted a tax scheme "which took advantage of the legislation providing tax relief on the donations of share to charities".

The accountants are expected to deny the five charges of "cheating her Majesty and the public revenue" when the case continues at Blackfriars Crown Court on January 18.
