Accountancy giant Deloitte was the star of the show at the recent Accountancy Age Awards, picking up three major accolades.

The firm was named both Global Firm of the Year and Employer of the Year for the second year running, while Sarah Restall, an audit assistant manager at Deloitte, added a third award when she was named joint winner of the Young Accountant of the Year title.

Judges praised Deloitte for offering accounting employees the chance to progress by allowing them to develop their own ideas and initiatives.

Commenting on the awards success, John Connolly, UK senior partner and chief executive of Deloitte, said: "The Employer award in particular is a reflection on our total commitment to our main asset - our people."

"Our reputation in the marketplace is thanks to the calibre and commitment of our people, and this is a very gratifying confirmation that we are fulfilling their expectations."

The Accountancy Age Awards were also a success for fellow Big 4 firm KPMG . The company won two awards at the ceremony in London, picking up the Audit Team of the Year and Business Recovery Project of the Year titles.

Richard Bennison, chief operating officer at KPMG, said: "We were delighted to receive this recognition. Quality of service and innovation are two attributes that are absolutely paramount to KPMG, and these awards recognise that."
