Accountants that specialise in taxation issues are in high demand with law firms, it has been revealed.
According to the Lawyer magazine, a number of high-profile companies are keen to hire tax accountants to expand their portfolios and challenge the Big 4 global accounting companies PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Ernst And Young and KPMG .
Speaking to the legal profession news provider, Vimal Tilakapala, co-head of international law firm Allen &Overys UK tax group, explained that more traditional sources of business, such as mergers and acquisitions, are starting to dry up.
He said the company needs to "adapt to the new environment" and is currently looking at ways to expand its offerings.
Earlier this year, former Grant Thornton partner Danny Beeton was made a consultant at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, making the firm the first major UK law company to employ a transfer pricing specialist.
A recent study by recruitment firm Reed Finance revealed that demand for qualified accountants in all employment sectors has picked up following a tough first half of the year.
