Top Accountancy Firm Benefiting From Merger

Accountancy practice Mazars has revealed that business in the North West is booming following its merger with chartered accountants Chadwick.

Mazars, an international accountancy firm with operations in 56 countries, joined forces with North West-based Chadwick last October, combining its Manchester office with the Chadwick Liverpool office.

The new expanded Mazars office now has around 100 staff and has doubled the number of partners in the region to eight. The company said it is on track to turnover £7 in its first year of operation, up from £4m.

Senior partner Tim Hudson said: "I think that what the merger has done is given us the opportunity to broaden the services that we offer, both in terms of the skills we have here and by giving clients access to our national and international abilities in specialised areas."

"For example, in areas such as taxation we can bring in national expertise to serve local and regional clients."

"We are seeing lots more opportunities for clients and potential clients with international activities as we have an offer which is better than many of our competitors."

Mr Hudson continued: "Since the merger we have continued to strengthen the team. In January we recruited Peter Terry to head up our corporate finance team across the north west."

"The merger gave us the opportunity to bring in someone of that quality. We are always on the lookout for good people and we are also looking for opportunities to grow and expand."

Mazars is currently ranked as the eight largest UK accountancy firm by audit fee income. The company was named Accountancy Age Large Firm of the Year in 2008.
