Tue, 26 Jan 2010

A trainee accountant based in Cornwall has achieved top results in her exams to qualify as a chartered accountant .

Nicola Bray, who works at Bishop Fleming in Truro, recently scored the ninth-best ACA qualification exam mark in the world, outperforming all of the other 32 candidates that sat the test in the south-west region of England.

Ms Bray, who joined the Chartered accountants in 2004 as part of the Modern Apprenticeship scheme, said: "The ACA qualification is very highly regarded, and I am proud to have achieved it through a working route, rather than a university degree course ."

"Winning this international award means a lot to me, as it recognises the hard work I have put into studying for these exams ."

Alison Oliver, training partner at the Truro office, said Ms Bray had "excelled" throughout her training at the firm and described the 23-year-old as a "superb role model" for other A-Level students with the ambition to become a qualified accountant .

The top exam performance comes after Ms Bray was awarded two prizes by the South West Society of Chartered Accountants for her final Business Change and Business Reporting exam results last summer.
