Ernst And Young Named Most Gay Friendly Accountancy Firm

Thu, 21 Jan 2010

Professional services firm Ernst and Young has been named the UK’s most gay-friendly accountancy employer in the 2010 Stonewall Workplace Equality Index.

Ernst and Young, which is one of the ‘Big Four’ accountancy firms, came third overall in the list of the top 100 employers for gay and lesbian staff.

The firm was hailed for the sexual diversity among its UK workforce, with its EYGLES network receiving the Employee Network of the Year award.

The Stonewall index found that internal events, mentor schemes and client engagement policies all recognise the firm's growing gay, lesbian and bisexual staff network.

Scott Halliday, Ernst and Young’s UK and Ireland managing partner, said: To be benchmarked as one of the UK's most diverse and inclusive organisations is a huge achievement and recognises the business imperative of creating a work environment where our people are able to be themselves."

"We want Ernst and Young to be a place where all our people have the potential to thrive and succeed."

The Stonewall Workplace Equality Index is produced annually to audit the policies, practice and employee experiences of workplaces around the country. Stonewall’s Workplace team uses the Index to help companies create more inclusive workplace environments for their lesbian, gay and bisexual employees.
