The number of graduate job opportunities in the UK is set to significantly increase this year, a new report has revealed.
The report by High Fliers Research shows that recruitment targets for 2010 across the top 100 employers have risen by an average of 12 per cent.
The news comes as a great boost for those seeking accountancy recruitment opportunities with accountants, professional services firms and high street banks expected to offer the most posts.
According to High Fliers Research, accountancy giants PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Deloitte will be the biggest graduate recruiters over the next 12 months, with PwC set to take on 1,039 graduates and Deloitte to add 1,000 university leavers to its UK workforce.
PwC chairman and senior partner Ian Powell announced last month that the firm would commit to its recruitment plans as it looks to build for the future.
Martin Birchall, managing director of High Fliers Research, said the reported increase in graduate vacancies was encouraging, but warned that there is likely to be fierce competition for places due to the high level of demand.
