A trainee accountant from East Anglia has been awarded a prestigious gold medal from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for achieving the highest score in her final accountancy examinations.

Cara Miller, who is a member of the suit team at Baker Tilly East Anglia, outperformed thousands of other trainee accountants from across the globe in the accountancy exams .

"I was really pleased to have passed, but to hear that I came first out of all the candidates was unbelievable…I had to pinch myself," she said.

"Juggling my workload and studies with married life and other family commitments has certainly been a challenge, but I have had great support from Baker Tilly and at home. I cannot thank everyone enough for their help and understanding."

Baker Tilly audit partner Claire Sutherland said: "We are all so pleased for Cara and very proud of her. She has worked hard for these exams and it’s wonderful to see that she has reaped a just reward for her efforts."

Ms Miller joins fellow audit team member Ryan Swann and colleague Adam Grainger, who works in the company’s tax department, as Baker Tilly East Anglia employees who have been awarded for exceptional results in their exams.

Commenting on the trio’s success, the firm’s managing partner Stephen Duffety, said: "Cara, Adam and Ryan are a credit to our office and I am extremely pleased to see their hard work recognised publicly. They have all done fantastically well and we are very proud to have them working here as part of the Baker Tilly regional team."

He added: "At Baker Tilly we are committed to attracting the highest calibre of students and to providing them with the very best study support."

"Our examination results in all professional examinations, including ICAEW, ACCA, CTA, ATT and AAT, significantly out-perform the national averages. In fact, we are now achieving an almost perfect exam success record."
