One of the Big Four accountancy firms, Ernst and Young, is to add 1,000 people to its advisory arm workforce to help deal with increasing client demand.
According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, one thousand new employees will be taken on by the company, with most being recruited into regional hubs including E&Ys Manchester advisory division.
E&Y plans to increase the size of its Manchester advisory team to 60 staff over the next two years.
The North West recruitment drive will be led by partner Stephen Church, who has helped grow the firm's Manchester practice from 10 to 25 staff since joining in February 2009.
Church said: "We aim to add people at every level, from graduates through to partners. By 2012 we hope to have more than doubled the size of the team to 60, led by three partners and four directors."
Ernst and Youngs advisory operation provides advice on business risk, IT risk and performance improvement to clients in both the public and private sectors.
The company is seeking more staff for the division due to growing demand from companies looking to improve their financial, operational and IT performance.
