An accountant from Droitwich Spa in northern Worcestershire has been nominated for a prestigious accountancy award.
James Syree, accounts manager for local chartered accountancy firm Ballard Dale Syree Watson, is in the running for the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Waless (ICAEW) Young Chartered Accountant of the Year Award 2011.
Over the past twelve months, Syree has demonstrated a broad range of commercial skills, helping the firm acquire a string of new businesses and supporting many clients to achieve their growth targets.
He has also worked closely with local schools to encourage young people to take up accounting as a career option.
Commenting on his nomination, Mr Syree said: "I am naturally delighted to have been nominated but Im also conscious that I am competing against some of the best and brightest talent in our region."
"To get an accolade would be nice but I think it is more important that the accountancy profession as a whole gets the acclaim it deserves in the way that it helps businesses survive and thrive, particularly in todays very difficult economic climate."
The winner of the ICAEWs Young Chartered Accountant of the Year 2011 will be revealed at a special ceremony at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston on May 10.
