The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants has revealed that it took on a record number of students in 2010.
Figures from the institute show that some 23,000 new students joined the world's largest professional body of management accountants last year, with strong growth recorded in Pakistan, China and Africa.
The number of people becoming CIMA members in Pakistan doubled for the second year running, while China'a student uptake soared by 72 per cent from the previous year.
Africa's student numbers grew 32 per cent compared to 2009, as the institute continued to expand its presence across the sub-Saharan region.
The number of graduates and school leavers joining the institute also rose in the UK and Sri Lanka.
CIMA executive director, Andrew Harding said: "2010 has seen CIMA's largest ever student annual intake and largest year-on-year rise to date."
"The figures go to show that in challenging economic times, ambitious graduates and school leavers across the world are taking no chances with their future careers and are choosing to study for a qualification that will equip them with the skills and expertise to become the business leaders of the future."
