Next Tuesday will see the Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants receiving the Freedom of the City of Liverpool.
The organisation is considered to be the UK's oldest "society" of chartered accountants, originating in 1870 when it was formed by "14 gentlemen engaged in accountancy".
This organisation played a crucial role in enabling the establishment of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Next Tuesday the Liverpool society’s 118th president Martyn Best is going to be given the city’s highest honour from Lord Mayor Cllr Frank Prendergast at Liverpool Town Hall.
The ICAEW deputy president Mark Spofforth will also be attending. The ICAEW currently had 138,000 plus members across the world.
Liverpool president Mr Best said that the society’s formation "has contributed significantly to the fabric of commerce and business advice within and beyond our city".
