Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) are one of the oldest accounting bodies in the world, having received its Royal Charter in 1854, and was formed from three separate bodies from across Scotland.

It is made up of thousands of members, who are involved at a senior level in 80% of the FTSE 100 companies.

Although based in Scotland, ICAS have influence around the world, with their members being spread out over more than 100 countries.

Membership

ICAS has members from around the globe, all working to educate, inspire, and enable professional excellence for chartered accountants. Membership is a method of breaking into the high level accountancy and finance sectors.

Membership to the network is achieved through a training scheme with a company. These training programs will allow students to gain the essential knowledge and skills to qualify as a chartered accountant.

The training will take three years, and combine both classroom style learning with work experience in a company.

Aspiring members must hold a UK or overseas equivalent degree.

Why join?

ICAS members get exclusive opportunities to attend events and conferenced with industry experts and leaders, and get a chance to network with peers.

The network also keeps its members up to date with the latest industry changes, and any regulatory changes that are made. This means that members are always up to date with the industry.

ICAS also has a jobs board to help its members search for new employment.
