Singapore attracts and produces many thousands of professionals.
Singapore produces most of the accountants it needs. However, there is a current shortage in this country, so says an executive of a global accountancy body.
Mr Darryl Wee, Singapore, who heads the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), has recently gone on record to state that whilst there are a fixed number of places for accountancy graduates here, the number was 'not enough'.
There are three local universities in Singapore which produce around 1,000 accountancy graduates annually and ACCA trains 650 to 700.
However, this number is insufficient to meet market demand.
Many of the graduates enter other professions and many of them get snapped up by a few major firms.
